Mercan Koleji Ortaokulu is raising inquiring, productive world youth with the MYP program, MES model, robotic workshops and second foreign language education.
Having adopted student-centered education, MERCAN Middle School implements the Middle Years Programme (MYP). With this program, students become confident and responsible, inquiring, questioning, able to think critically, possess effective communication skills, are aware of global issues, and respectful of others' similarities and differences, while also possessing national and spiritual values, preparing them for life and the next level of education.
Mercan College Middle School implements the MES MODEL. Multidimensional Education, Multidimensional Individuals… Starting from middle school, the "TECHNOLOGY AND LIFE CENTER" with an area of 1800 M2 features the "dersin ATÖLYESİ" application. This application provides practical training in well-equipped workshops, creating an active and applied learning environment. In foreign language education, in addition to intensive English with Turkish and foreign teachers, German is also taught as a second foreign language. Foreign language classes focus on intercultural understanding and respect, enabling students to learn about and understand different cultures. Mercan College students, with the responsibility of being a global citizen and the support of their teachers, bring their entirely self-managed projects to life.
Through individual and group work, written and oral presentations, and national and international projects and competitions, students find opportunities for advancement in their academic and social lives. Community service and club activities in scientific, social, cultural, artistic, and athletic fields contribute to students' social development while helping them improve in various areas. Students are guided and supported through activities that raise social awareness. In the 8th grade, students are prepared for centralized high school entrance exams through intensive training using different teaching techniques.
Study groups are organized for complete learning, reinforcement, and review. Personalized study plans are developed and implemented for each student to prepare for exams. Modern teaching methods based on projects make learning enjoyable. Equipped with the latest technology, including interactive boards, classrooms provide an environment for all activities that will take students beyond their time.
Our students learn about the scientific and technological infrastructure of the future in the 1500 M2 TECHNOLOGY AND LIFE CENTER, which includes laboratories, computer, coding, and robotics workshops, cooking workshops, visual arts and music workshops, a modern "Z" library, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, and indoor and outdoor sports areas, meeting their scientific, social, cultural, athletic, and artistic needs in a spacious and comfortable environment.
